The Red River Parish School Board held their October meeting on Monday afternoon. They discussed plans for construction for updating the administration building. The school board members were presented with three options.
Those options are renovating the building they reside in now, remodeling the old Sunbeam building, or building a brand new structure near the new sports complex.
The school board members discussed the benefits of each building prospect, but ultimately, all of the members were leaning toward constructing a brand new building near the stadium. If this plan is approved, all of the school buildings except the elementary school would be housed together.
The school board also discussed the pending sale of the Springville gymnasium property to the potential buyer, extending the bus shop and redoing the roof at the high school.
Other takeaways from the meeting were that the school board was also happy to report that no students as of Monday, October 12th have come down with COVID-19, or have had to quarantine due to exposure at the schools. The Red River Parish School Board is doing everything possible to keep the faculty, staff and students safe during this pandemic. The school board plans to hold the next meeting Monday, November 9th.
