Coushatta Rolls Up Its Sleeves

“There was a steady stream of people coming by all day,” is how Philip Maxfield described the turnout Tuesday for the Lifeshare Blood Drive at Rivertown Market.  The Journal spoke with a tired although gratified Maxfield at the end of the day.

He said, “Our goal for the day was 12 units.  We far exceeded that.  I don’t have the final figures yet, but we had a very good day.”

Currently Lifeshare is under an emergency appeal for blood donors.  Supplies are so low that Lifeshare cannot supply all the blood that is needed by local hospitals.  Maxfield is urging businesses such as Rivertown Market to hold blood drives.

Another blood drive is scheduled Thursday beginning at 6:00 pm at Man Church on highway 507.  And a drive is scheduled at Martin Baptist Church on September 27th from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm.

Lifeshare locations are operating extended hours from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm weekdays and util 3:00 pm on Saturdays.
