The Red River Parish Library will be closed Thursday August 27th due to the predicted impact of Hurricane Laura.  If it passes us by unharmed, we will reopen on Friday.  If we have significant damage and power outages as predicted, we will be closed Friday 28th as well.  Everyone needs to be praying this thing weakens.

Northwestern State University will close at noon Wednesday, Aug. 26 in advance of Hurricane Laura, which is predicted to make landfall on the Texas and south Louisiana coasts late Wednesday or early Thursday and is expected to impact large portions of Louisiana and east Texas. Classes scheduled from noon Wednesday through Friday will be cancelled, and all offices on campuses in Natchitoches, Alexandria, Leesville and Shreveport will be closed during that period.

Louisiana Tech University has announced its graduates for the summer term.  One is from Coushatta.  Congratulations to Erica D. Grant.  She graduates with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Public schools begin the fall term on Monday.  Get into the habit now of slowing down for school zones, watching out for children and parents, and be award of the increased traffic danger with the opening of school.  For many, school will take a different form this year.  So do your part to see that our kids are safe.

The Lifeshare Bus will be at Clara Springs Camp on Friday night.  They are holding a blood drive from 3:30 to 7:30 pm.  It is also the day for the Fourth Friday Fish Fry.
