Judge-Elect Issues Thank You

Residents of Red River Parish:

I, Luke Mitchell, respectfully address the Residents of Red River Parish as Judge-Elect for the 39th Judicial District Court. My family and I are excited about this new opportunity and new chapter in our lives. Unfortunately, due to my candidacy being unopposed and the current restrictions on social gatherings I will not have the opportunity to meet with many of you in your homes and at campaign functions.

I am a lifelong resident of Red River Parish, and I am married to Eve Cox of Coushatta.  We have raised two children here and have a deep love for Red River Parish.  I am a graduate of Northwestern State University and earned my Juris Doctor in 2008 from Southern University Law Center.  I began serving Red River Parish in 2008 as a law clerk for the Honorable Lewis O. Sams. From 2009 through the present, I have served Red River Parish as an Assistant District Attorney under the Honorable Julie C. Jones and through my private law practice.

As your newly elected Judge, I want to serve the people of this district and the judicial system in a balanced and ethical manner.  I encourage all of you to express your concerns for this district and create a dialogue surrounding our judicial system.  I believe that judges can apply their education and experiences while maintaining a familiarity with the people they serve.  I am humbled and encouraged by the new role.

Sincerely,

Luke D. Mitchell
