
Louisiana is looking south, watching a storm developing and moving through the Gulf. The Shreveport office of the National Weather Service said it seems to be drifting toward Texas.
The National Hurricane Center has just (Thursday morning) upgraded the disturbance in the central Gulf of Mexico to Tropical Depression Eight. They expect the cyclone to achieve weak Tropical Storm status as it heads west and makes landfall along the SE TX coastline on Saturday.
Governor Edwards spoke at his news conference Wednesday about the possibility that south Louisiana would receive increased rainfall. He also alerted residents to check their hurricane preparations, just in case.
