A public forum on the plans for starting school this year will be held at Red River High School at 4:30 Monday afternoon. Comments on the various aspects of getting back to classes will be received.
Last Thursday the Red River Parish School Board received a report from Superintendent Alison Hughes on scenarios for getting children back to school. Hughes said “There will be school. The kids will go back to class.”
What is unknown is exactly which course will be followed. Hughes presented several plans. The one that will be followed depend upon the phase of reopening the state is in come August.
The Journal streamed that meeting to our Facebook page. It is archived there if you would like to review it. Hughes’ explanation of the options begins 20:00 minutes into the stream.
High School Principal JC Dickey said, “I am personally a huge fan of our proposal as it minimizes risk to students and teachers while teaching our kids 4 days a week in static groups and sending them home with breakfast and lunch on Fridays. Great plan, better than most.”
The public session begins at 4:30 pm and will be held in the High School auditorium. Wearing of masks and social distancing will be in place for the meeting.
The Journal will stream the meeting Monday live on our Facebook page.
