
From the National Weather Service in Shreveport:
A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 AM Wednesday morning through 7 PM Thursday evening. High Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s with Heat Index Values expected to be between 105 and 110 degrees over much of the Four State Region.
Community Foundation of North Louisiana is now accepting applications for the annual G. Scott Griffin Award. The award, which features a cash prize of $1,000, will be given to a local artist who has contributed to the community through his or her art while overcoming adversity. The deadline for entries is 5:00 PM on July 31, 2020. The application and guidelines can be found on the Foundation’s website at cfnla.org/scottgriffinaward2020. The winner will be announced publicly at an event at Artspace on September 10, 2020.
Louisiana 4-H presents a live, interactive (FREE) leadership camp for middle and high-school youth. Red River 4-H is passing the word to local members to sign up to:
• Become informed and aware of the social issues in the world and their communities,
• Become inspired to be a part of social change around issues that are important to them, and
• Understand how they can use their talents and skills to lead change in their communities.
