Are You Ready For Some Football?

It is just July first, yet high school football is not far away.  The lights will glow in stadiums in the parish every Friday night beginning August 21st.

The COVID-19 virus has some of the logistics of playing games, spectators or no spectators, and other questions still up in the air.  However, The Journal is proceeding as if games will be played and we will be broadcasting them.

Riverdale Academy has not announced who will coach their football team.  A decision is expected in the near future.  Red River High has it’s coaching staff in place and they are beginning some workouts with the players, keeping the COVID-19 restrictions in mind.

Red River has a new 1,500 seat stadium.  A new press box is being constructed.  Although there have been some delays due to wet weather, work is expected to be completed in time for the first game on August 21st.

For the 2020-21 school year, The Journal has been granted rights to stream the athletic events of both Red River High and Riverdale Academy.  That includes any playoff appearances.  Very soon we will be setting up the text message alert program to allow fans to get a notice shortly before the start of each athletic event.
