ETC… for Friday, April 3rd

On Thursday, the Red River Parish School Board posted a notice that the next monthly public meeting is being delayed.  That regular meeting had been scheduled for April 6th, next Monday.  The notice did not give a re-schedule date but indicated, Meeting postponed for a later date this month due to public health concerns linked to COVID-19.”

Thursday afternoon the Governor’s office sent out a notification that his executive order to stay home was being extended to the end of April.  The Governor at his daily briefing said all cell phones in the state will ring at 4:00 pm.  Mine did not. My wife’s did.  There was a brief voice announcement that she could not recover or play again.

Also the Governor announced that you could get text alerts from the government if there was something that you needed to know.  So I signed up.  There were a bunch of redirects and way too much information requested to implement a text message alert system.  I should know, The Journal utilizes text alerts.  It turns out I was signed up for a Smart911 account.  I was not aware of that.  Now tomorrow I will try to get rid of that account.  Don’t know if Smart911 will be useful or not, but I am sending them off into an internet black hole for fooling me.  (Note: a slight editorial there)
