Drive Up Church Cancelled

New Life Church at Hall Summit decided to stop offering services to folks who drove into their parking lot.  This is in accordance with the latest declaration from the Governor concerning gatherings and orders to stay at home.

New Life Pastor Colin Wimberly sent the Journal this notice he distributed to his members:

Wimberly said, “After much prayer and deliberation we have decided not to have drive-in services for the foreseeable future. After consultation with law enforcement and medical personnel, we feel this is the best choice for all of our safety. The next two weeks may prove to be the most difficult of this pandemic. Therefore, we sense strongly that the Spirit is leading us to this measure.”

Bro. Wimberly added, “However, we will have 2 bible studies on our church Facebook page each week. I will be contacting each of you over the next 2 weeks to see how you are doing and how we can pray for you. Please know that we love you and look forward to meeting with you again in Worship. As soon as we can meet again we will be in contact with you.”

First Methodist and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Churches have decided not to conduce a drive-up Easter service.  The Pastor, Dr. Curtis Carroll told The Journal he had been in contact with the Sheriff’s Office before making the decision.  Although the Easter morning service had been planned, Carroll said cancelling it was probably the thing to do.

Both New Life and the Methodist churches are continuing their plans for offering a worship experience to their congregations.  Both plan to enhance their social media presence to keep in touch with their membes.
