From Red River High School

Prior to break, select RRHS students travelled to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches to participate in their science showcase. This experience was made possible by LA GEAR UP, a grant that allows us to partner with higher education institutions to expose our students to opportunities they have once they complete high school.

Students were able to interact with NSU facility, staff and students and participate in hands on science educational demonstrations led by the NSU science facility. Student learned about the following majors at NSU: molecular biology and microbiology, biomedical science and natural science, physical sciences and veterinary science.

The students were informed of scholarships and career opportunities within the field of science. Thank you to NSU for inviting RRHS to participate in this educational day!
