Small Business Protection Act

Here is news for small businesses in our parish.  Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin announced the rollout of the Small Business Protection Act (SBPA). Passed in the 2019 Legislative Session, the Small Business Protection Act helps make owners aware of proposed regulations that could negatively impact their business entities.

Under the SBPA, the Secretary of State’s office has created a database of both current and proposed rules and regulations. This will allow businesses to provide input before regulations take effect, rather than forcing businesses to react to regulations.

The Small Business Protection Act took effect on February 1.  The database is live now. Businesses can register for updates and view the database at  If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Commercial Division by email using or by phone at 225.925.4704.
