Basketball’s senior class at Riverdale Academy concluded their season this week with victories. Monday night the seniors were presented before the game. When they hit the hardwood it was all about the game.
Prior to the games against Union Christian Academy from Farmerville, fans and students saluted the basketball team’s graduating seniors.
Members of both basketball teams formed lines to welcome the seniors to the court. Each was introduced and met by family and friends with awards and presents.
Riverdale’s Cheer Squad had one graduate this spring. Georgia Dowden was introduced to the crowd ahead of the players.
There is one graduate on the boys team. He is #23 Jackson Riggs.
The girls team has five seniors. They are #21 Brooklyn Azlin, #50 Morgan Alexander, #33 Bailee King, #20 Bailey Pate, and #15 Malea Edwards.
Just minutes later, the Lady Rebels took the court and handed UCA more than they could have wished for. Final score Lady Rebels 62 and UCA Lady Lions 28.
The boys did not have it so easy. The Lions roared onto the court and gave the Rebels a great game. It was back and forth with only a few point margin for each team. The Rebels put it all together late in the game and worked up a 9 point lead. Final score was Rebels 56 and Lions 47.
Both Riverdale teams will travel to Woodville, Mississippi next week for the “South A” MAIS tournament. Brackets will be released over the coming weekend.
