Orie was born October 23, 1934 in Fairview Alpha, LA to Conrad and Willie Williams and passed away December 18, 2019.  Orie attended school in Fairview Alpha and went to college at Northwestern graduating with a degree in Art and Business.  He joined the U.S. Air Force after college and served active duty for four years and another eight years in the reserves.  Orie then returned home to join his brothers in the family business of laying tile.  He then left the family business and started working at American Bank and Trust as a janitor/general laborer.  Orie had ambition and a business degree and soon started his climb to the position of Vice-President which he finally retired from after 34 years of service.  He was a true renaissance man with many proficient talents in art, gardening, construction, photography, teaching, theater and song.  He served his church family in many positions over the years from choir, teacher, board member to Board President.  The youth group, known as the Orieo’s, which was named after him, still lead the way in helping the community with donations of money, time, coats, shoeboxes for homeless children, etc.  He attended numerous meetings and was instrumental in seeing many projects fulfilled including the current church sanctuary.  Orie left his mark on the old sanctuary in the form of the stained-glass windows that are prominently displayed.

Orie had suffered with the general health problems of the elderly the past few years as well as Alzheimer’s disease.  He was bedridden the past few years and finally succumbed to a stroke which left him a few days of life.  He will be missed greatly by many people who loved him for the kind, Christian man he was.

Orie was the last of six children to pass on from this life.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arnold Williams, Douglas Williams, and Jimmy Williams; two sisters, Carrie Mae Bailey and Leta Baker.
