Domestic Abuse Incidents Lead to Arrests


According to Red River Parish Sheriff Glen Edwards, over a recent seven day period, three local residents have been arrested on charges of domestic abuse battery stemming from three separate incidents. 

Shortly after midnight on January 18, 2019, Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office (RRPSO) deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of LA Hwy 787 in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a female and her three children ranging in age from twelve to fourteen. The complainant reported that she had been beaten and strangled by her ex-husband Johnathan Bonnette at his residence. She was eventually able to call 911 as Bonnette fled the scene. Red River EMS transported the victim to Christus Coushatta Emergency Room where she was evaluated, treated and released. Deputies were unable to locate Bonnette following the incident and a warrant was issued for his arrest later that same day. On January 28, 2019 Bonnette was located and taken into custody without incident and transported to the Red River Parish Jail for booking. Johnathan L. Bonnette, W/M, age 37 of the 1400 block of Hwy 787, Coushatta, LA was charged with two counts of Domestic Abuse Child Endangerment and one count of Domestic Abuse Battery (Strangulation). His total bond was set at $150,000. 

 

On January 23, 2019 RRPSO deputies were dispatched to a home in the 4500 block of LA Hwy 783 near Hall Summit. The female complainant reported that a verbal altercation between herself and Donald Brown Sr. turned physical and he attempted to strangle her. She fled to a neighbor’s residence where she called Red River Sheriff’s Communications. Deputies were unable to locate Brown Sr. and secured a warrant for his arrest. He was located on January 29, 2019 and taken into custody and booked into the Red River Parish Jail without incident. Donald W. Brown Sr., W/M, age 51 of the 4900 block of Hwy 783, Ringgold, LA was charged with Domestic Abuse Battery (Strangulation). His bond was set at $50,000. 

 

On February 3, 2019 at approximately 1:30 a.m. RRPSO deputies were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Grand Bayou Loop. The caller reported that a verbal confrontation between herself and Patrick Demorest had escalated and turned physical upon his arrival home. She reported that, among other things, Demorest grabbed her, put his hands around her neck and held her down on the bed before she was able to break free and call 911. Following the initial investigation, Demorest was taken into custody without incident at the residence and transported to the Red River Parish Jail for booking. Once at the jail, Demorest became combative towards deputies and his actions resulted in a charge of battery of a police officer. Patrick A. Demorest, W/M, age 41 of the 200 block of Grand Bayou Loop, Mansfield, LA was charged with Domestic Abuse Battery (Strangulation) and Battery of a Police Officer. His bond has not been set at this time. 

All three suspects remain incarcerated in the Red River Parish Jail.

  1. About time somebody finally got him arrested. He’s so far behind on child support its ridiculous. Nobody will do nothing. That’s not the first woman he’s ever laid his hands on either. But as usual nothing is ever done. He gets a slap on the wrist. Maybe they’ll vonvict his no working abusing. Please call child support services and see how many warrants you can get
