How to Protect Yourself

Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office (RRPSO) is offering a free 5 hour College Campus Safety & Basic Self Defense class for female college students in our community. It will be held on Saturday, August 4th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at our Detective’s Office, located at 135 Lock & Dam Road off of Hwy 480.
Leading the training will be RRPSO detective Sgt. Suzanne Gallier who has extensive law enforcement experience and is a Certified FBI POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Instructor.
The class will cover safety tips involving various aspects of college/campus life as well as basic self-defense techniques. To participate, you must be a current or incoming female college student. Mothers are welcome and encouraged to attend the training with their daughters.
Those interested in enrolling in the class should contact Rytrice Martin at 318-932-5753 Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
On training day participants should arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 to complete the registration process. Those under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign a release form. Ladies are also encouraged to bring a lunch as there are no eating establishments nearby.
Ladies participating in the class should dress comfortably and be prepared to have fun, meet new friends and learn how to better protect themselves. We look forward to seeing you there!
