The parish has been getting some rainfall this week. Red River and many other parishes and counties in our area are under burn bans due to the extended hot dry spell. So were recent rains sufficient for the ban to be lifted? Not so, according to Red River Fire Chief Shane Felts. Here is some good advice from the national weather service’s Facebook page:
Even after it rains, be careful with fire and obey fire restrictions. Rain falls, wind blows, sun shines and grass dries. Do your part, don’t let a wildfire start.
