There is an old saying “You can’t fight city hall!” But you can make a difference in how things are going. Your chance is coming up.
There will be a primary election on November 6th and a general election on December 8th. All members of the Red River Parish School Board will be running for a new 4-year term.
Registrar of Voters Mary Jones told The Journal that the qualifying period is July 18th through 20th. If you would like to qualify, bring your ID card and your voter registration card to the Registrar’s office in the courthouse. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Up for election locally, in addition to the school board, is the Mayor, Aldermen, and the Chief of Police of Hall Summit. Also on the ballot will be Justice of the Peace District C.
Statewide there will be an election to fill the Secretary of State’s office until the end of the current term. All Louisiana Congressman are running again. They serve a two-year term. Red River is in the 4th Congressional District and Mike Johnson is the incumbent.
So If you have ever wanted to “make a change” now is your chance. Qualifying is just a few days away.
