Many people in our area remember Leon Gay as a great local football player for Coushatta High School. He was a member of the state All-Star team in the year he graduated 1973.

Gay came home for a visit the week before Easter. One of his first stops was at the Wednesday Lenten Lunch at First Methodist Church. There he got reacquainted with the pastor, Dr. Curtis Carroll. Carroll and Gay were teammates on those great Coushatta football teams in the early 1970s.

Gay sat down with the Journal following lunch to bring you up to date. He said, “Right after graduating from Coushatta High School I went to play with San Diego. Also during my years in the NFL I played with New England.”

Today Gay resides in Minnesota where he has lived for several years. He said it is cold up there sometimes, however the scenery is beautiful. Gay said he loves the outdoor opportunities including hunting in the northern United States.
