ETC… for January 3rd

We are into a new year. How many resolutions did you make? And how many will you keep? No show of hands necessary. The Journal resolves to continue providing news, information and other interesting stuff to our readers in the new year. Thanks for all who helped supply story ideas last year. Keep it up in the coming months.

What a waste, all this cold weather. School is already out. Mother Nature’s timing isn’t perfect. Just ask any school child. We could have had a day off! Winter is here, and there will probably be more cold days ahead, so don’t give up yet, kids.

You will notice the Christmas lights are still glowing brightly around town. Many people leave their decorations up until Epiphany, which is Saturday January 6th. What is Epiphany? It is from the Greek and means manifestation. On the Christian calendar it is 12 days after Christmas Day. The ancient Christian east day is a celebration of Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist. Twelfth Night (another name for Epiphany) is said to be the time of the visit of the Magi to the baby Jesus.
