There was praise for the success enjoyed this year by the Red River High Football team. The school board at their December meeting saluted members and coaches. Superintendent Alison Hughes presented Coach John Bachman and the team a plaque.
Hughes said, “I am honoring the hard working staff and students of the football program. They completed a history-making overall record of 9 and 4. It was the first time the football team made it to the third round of the playoffs.” Hughes added, “They persevered through several tough games and really showed what Bulldogs are made of.”
Coach John Bachman told the board, “We surround the kids with love and we let them know they are important. Then they think they are important. And they are important.
The Bulldogs had 20 team members selected to spots on the all-district team. Raphael Lemons was named defensive MVP. Present to receive the plaque was Waylon Washington. Coach Bachman said, “He is one of our seniors and he represents our student body. How lucky I am with Waylon being one of the leaders on our team.”
