ETC… for November 1st



Senator Gerald Long will host a scholarship event to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of his late wife, Rose Landry Long. The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 in the Northwestern State University Student Union Ballroom and will feature Louisiana Chef John Folse, assisted by students from NSU’s culinary arts program. Proceeds will go towards two scholarships that will be awarded to first generation students.

This may be a chilly and damp weekend for local football. Friday night’s forecast is for the temperature to be in the mid 60s with a 50-50 chance of rain. Friday night the Riverdale Rebels open the playoffs at home. The Red River Bulldogs will also be at home, hosting Holy Savior Menard. Both games will be streamed by Journal Sports. There is a fundraiser planned Saturday at the Coushatta Country Club on Saturday November 4th. There will be plate lunches catered by Shaver’s Catering for $10 and there will be a live auction and other events. Money raise will go to the medical bills of Randal “Casey” English. He was injured recently in a motorcycle accident.
