The principal of Red River Elementary School is spreading the word, “We have great teachers and employees here.” Shenell Deville sent this information to The Joural:

Every month, a committee consisting of the principal, teachers, and various staff selects a Teacher of the Month and a Staff Member of the month. We discuss possible nominees and consider their attendance, positive character, team effort, and their motivation to do above and beyond.

In September, our Employees of the month were 5th Grade Teacher, Sherry Pickett and Custodian, Diane Jackson. Mrs. Pickett is always finding ways to be a better teacher for herself and her students by participating in professional training throughout the state and sometimes out-of-state. Mrs. Jackson always shows up to work on time, very humble, and just gets the job done. I rarely have to ask her twice.

In October, our Employees of the month were 1st Grade Teacher, Brandi Jones and Nurse, Fletter Taylor. Mrs. Jones keeps a smile on her face and positive attitude. I observe her daily assisting students and teachers needing extra support. She makes sure she is doing what she is supposed to be doing. Nurse Taylor is on her job. Her calming ways helps our students and some staff feel a whole lot better when they visit her office. She also graciously assists wherever she is needed.

I look forward to recognizing our teachers and staff. Sometimes, I feel there aren’t enough months in year to recognize everyone who is entitled. However, here at Red River Elementary School, our Staff Recognition Committee continues to increase a positive school culture and climate for staff by planning surprise activities to show appreciation for everyone.
