On August 9, 2017 Red River Parish Sheriff’s deputies, along with members of the Tri-Parish Drug Taskforce, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1300 block of Suzanne Street in Coushatta. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with, and identified the occupants of the dwelling as Devontis Brewer and Lauren McVean. A child, approximately 1 year of age, was also present.
The search resulted in the recovery of 8.5 grams of marijuana, along with a digital scale typically used for weighing illegal narcotics. Also recovered were five packs of cigars and $142 in U.S. currency in small denominations which is consistent with street level narcotics sales.
All items were collected as evidence. Brewer and McVean were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Red River Parish Jail for booking. The child was released to a family member.
