Attempted Rape and Home Invasion Charges Filed

RRPJ-Kevin Tate

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on June 1, 2017 a Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to the Grand Bayou Reservoir spillway on Lakeway Road south of Coushatta in reference to a battered female. Upon arrival, the complainant reported that Kevin Tate entered her residence without permission and refused to leave. Once inside the home, Tate allegedly threw her to the floor and attempted to sexually abuse her. She advised that she attempted to leave several times and was held against her will.

Tate was reportedly alarmed by an approaching vehicle and fled the premises on a bicycle. A passerby subsequently gave the female a ride to the spillway where she contacted authorities. The victim did not appear to have significant injuries and refused medical attention.

Following the initial investigation and search for Tate, the case was forwarded to the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office criminal investigations division. On June 6, 2017 a warrant was secured for the arrest of Kevin L. Tate Sr., W/M, age 55 of the 500 block of Lakeway Road, Coushatta, LA. Charges included Home Invasion, Second Degree Battery, Domestic Abuse Battery and Attempted First Degree Rape.

On June 12, 2017 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Tate surrendered himself at the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the Red River Parish Jail without incident.

His total bond was set at $55,000 and he remains incarcerated. A probation and parole hold has also been placed on his release.
