The Louisiana School for Math Science and the Arts in Natchitoches is this state’s premier secondary school. Students follow advanced courses of study including some college credit courses.

High achieving students from throughout the state apply each spring to join the next year class at LSMSA. This year two students from Red River Parish applied and were accepted for the 2017-18 school year.

The students who have been accepted to attend LSMSA from Red River Parish are Sagar Patel and Thomas Harvey. Both attend Red River High School.

Patel is a sophomore and the son of Kishor and Sharmistha Patel. Harvey is also a sophomore. His parents are Vince and Betsy Harvey of Coushatta.
