Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office reports Victor Demery of Postell Road in Coushatta is awaiting trial on charges including possession of drugs, assault, aggravated flight from an officer, and attempted entry of an inhabited dwelling. He is out on a $29,000 bond.
The incident began on February 21st when deputies answered an assault and attempted entry of a home call to Rolling Hills Trailer Park. While en route a responding deputy observed the suspect vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed along U.S. Hwy 71 traveling toward Coushatta. Despite the officer’s pursuit, the suspect continued at a high rate of speed while passing other traffic in no passing zones. That vehicle was located at the suspect’s residence on February 24th. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a residual amount of narcotics believed to be either marijuana or synthetic cannabis.
