Riverdale anglers finish in top third of national high school championship field
Riverdale Bassmasters anglers Colton Caskey and Brayden Pearah had a strong showing at the 2024 Strike King High School Championship presented by Bill Dance Signature Lakes this past weekend.

Caskey and Pearah finished 86th in a 273-boat field by bagging a two-day total 13-2 on five bass on Chickamauga Lake in Dayton, Tenn.

The Riverdale pair sat in 34th place after Day 1 with a shot at making the final 12 group that competed on the last day, but they couldn’t push their way in on Day 2.

The juniors will have one more high school season to compete on the local high school scene and take aim at another national competition next summer.

Riverdale softball splits on opening weekend
Riverdale softball bested Tallulah Academy but fell to Briarfield Academy on the opening weekend of the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools softball season.

The Lady Rebels dropped a 5-0 decision to Briarfield on Friday before bouncing back with an 8-2 win against Tallulah Academy on Saturday.

Senior Haylee Smith blasted her first home run of the season to push the Rebels to the win.

Riverdale gets a rematch with Tallulah Academy and adds Prairie View Academy this week.
