One piece of Coushatta’s historic Front Street is no more. The old Bailey’s hamburger stand has been demolished. After the owners moved to the new location, the police jury developed plans to have the old building torn down and parking added for new developments.

The parking will make access to the Registrar of Voters office and Homeland Security more accessible for all citizens.

Progress is necessary, and change brings progress. But to lifelong Coushatta residents, losing any piece of history hits home.
