Veterans Day Preparations

Next Wednesday, November 11th is Veterans Day.  The Coushatta Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7287 and Auxiliary 7287 are making plans to honor deceased vets by placing American Flags on graves.  The flags will be placed at Springville Cemetery and others throughout the parish.

On Saturday, November 7th, local veterans from Post 7287 will be at Rivertown Market for a Buddy Poppy distribution beginning at 9:00 am.  Also Saturday, the VFW Auxiliary 7287 will have a bake sale.  Proceeds from both activities will be used to fund services to all veterans in the community, the local National Guard Armory, and other community programs.

Earlier this week, members of the local VFW Post 7287 and Auxiliary 7287 gathered to assemble Buddy Poppies.  Local posts across the US are making poppies to use in the VFW’s national fundraising effort to aid veterans and their families.

Come to Rivertown Market Saturday morning and get your Buddy Poppy and take home a sweet treat for desert.

If you are a veteran in need of services, such as assistance with VA benefits, call the post at 318-932-6557.  The VFW is here to help.
