Sewing God’s Love Ministry has recently gained three new members and expect two more next week. The original project goal was to make prayer quilts to give to someone during a serious illness, medical procedure or after a loss of a family member. Over 130 quilts have been given away.
The ministry has expanded to include red, white and blue crocheted afghans to more than 100 veterans, knitted an crocheted hats for newborns and chemo caps for cancer patients, lap fidget quilts for dementia patients and numerous items for the nursing home in Coushatta.
If you would like to learn to knit, crochet or Swedish weave, they have both right and left handed ladies ready to teach you. If you are interested in joining the group they meet each Monday from 9 am – 12 pm at 720 Fair Street in Coushatta. They also have a short devotional each week.
If you would like more information you can contact any member of the group. If you know of anyone in need of an item please contact a member or call the First Methodist Church at 932-4069.
