John Brewer had a vision. He wanted to bring an online news source to Red River Parish. Brewer, a long-time radio personality, sought a way to give back to his community. The creation was the inaugural edition of The Red River Parish Journal. The Journal replicated the successful Natchitoches Parish Journal.

John has been a constant participant in town, parish, and local events for years. He has contributed to the Christmas parade, car shows, council, and jury meetings. He kept us abreast of church, social, and life events of local residents. If there was news to read, John was writing it. His unique take on the happenings of this area provided residents with the news of the day.

John decided several months ago that he would like to follow his passions and step back from the constant grind of news reporting. He is now looking forward to expanding his mission trips, car shows, and traveling to places he only dreamed about. He transferred the baton last week and bid farewell after 30 years as a public personality. Or maybe it is not a true farewell. No doubt, John will be involved in several other community endeavors in the future.

John Brewer, thank you for all your hard work and leadership. We also say congratulations on your freedom to choose your next big adventure. You will be missed by readers.
