Riverdale BETA Club, Cheerleaders Spread Christmas Cheer

By Molly Seales

On Wednesday, December 14 and Thursday, December 15, members of the Riverdale BETA Club and the RA Cheerleaders went to Coushatta to spread some Christmas cheer. On Wednesday, the BETA Club delivered gifts to the patients at Specialty Rehab, and on Thursday, the cheerleaders delivered Christmas party supplies to Green Meadow Haven.

The BETA Club, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Amanda Cason, also collected Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Mrs. Cason said, “We did 12 bags for all 12 patients at Specialty Rehab. Different BETA members brought the gifts that included items such as blankets, fuzzy socks, adult coloring books/colored pencils, sugar free candy, lotion, bath salts, etc. BETA member Lilly Guillot also brought treats for the patients who were not diabetics. The students had a great time, and this was a great opportunity for them to do good to others.”

The RA Cheerleaders, under the sponsorship of Ms. Sidney Jones, went to Green Meadow Haven and took them all of the supplies they needed for the annual Christmas party. Sidney said, “Instead of exchanging gifts with each other, we decided to provide the nursing home with items they needed for the Christmas party. We were also able to pass out little treats and visit with the residents.” The Green Meadow Haven Activity directors were grateful for this generous donation, and the residents loved the visit and the cheerleaders singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season and spread a little kindness wherever you go! Merry Christmas!
