Getting Downtown Ready for Christmas

The Advanced Art class at Red River High is decorating historic Front Street for Christmas.  This year’s parade theme is a Louisiana Christmas, so the artwork they are creating follows that theme.

Art Instructor Jeff Edwards told the Journal he has eight students working on the project.  The weather has been chilly this week, but that has not deterred the students from their work.

Edwards said, “The art class is involved with community support of the theme A Louisiana Christmas.”  He said this is one of the community involvement projects of the school.

Also in preparation for the Christmas Parade, the Vocational Center is doing a float.  Edwards and instructor Doyle Bell are building their parade entry.  Edwards did not say what the float would look like.

As for the cold weather this week, Edwards said, “We do it when we can.  The students are doing a great job, just like last year.”
