Football Coach is Stepping Down

Red River Head Football Coach Jeff Harper issued a statement of thanks to Coushatta and the community for two great years in the football program.  Harper said he was blessed to have been given the opportunity to join the coaching staff under Coach Bachman as offensive coordinator.

Now, Coach Harper said, “I feel it’s time to step aside as head coach.”  He cited his son, the team’s starting quarterback, is a senior and will graduate.  He also said his daughter will be graduating next year and, “I want to be present during her senior year of high school.”

Harper thanked his fellow coaches at Red River and the community.  “Thank you to the coaches who worked tirelessly these last two seasons.  I have enjoyed working alongside you and I consider all of you some of the best in the business.” Harper said.  He also thanked Coushatta for the reception he had received.  He said, “My family and I have met some of the most genuine and kindest people.  We are grateful for your support and love you have shown us over the last two years.”
