Red River Parish is now under a burn ban. It was issued by the Red River Parish Fire Protection District.
Fire Chief John Woodfin said, “Due to the risk of wildfires from our current drought conditions across Red River Parish, all outdoor burning is currently prohibited.”
Red River joins neighboring parishes Natchitoches and DeSoto in issuing a burn ban due to dry conditions. And the rain we received on Wednesday night was not sufficient to alleviate the situation.
