On Monday, April 4, the Riverdale Academy Golf Team travelled to Twin Oaks in Winnsboro to a golf tournament hosted by Franklin Academy. The Rebels once again came in second, falling only to Class 2A golf powerhouse Claiborne Academy, who is defending class 2A state championship.
The Rebels fell just short of finishing first. They are getting great competition from Claiborne as Riverdale prepares to defend its Class 1A Championship finish last year. Coach Ty Hester is working with his team members getting ready for state in a couple of weeks. At Monday’s tournament, senior Reagan Huddleston came in with the lowest score for the Rebels, a 72. Junior Mason Murray shot a 77, and sophomore Ryder Huddleston was right behind with a 78. Senior Ty Jones came in with an 88, while 6th grader Jackson Hillman broke 90 for the first time in a high school tournament, coming in with an 89. First year player Thad Bates continues to improve and came in with 102.
Let’s cheer on the Rebels as they finish strong this season!
