On Thursday, the National Weather Service in Shreveport said there’s a slight risk for severe weather across the area late Monday afternoon through early Tuesday morning. Isolated tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail will be possible. In addition, locally heavy rainfall could lead to isolated flooding. The Journal will update the weather situation should severe weather develop.
Monday night is Leap Night at the Red River Elementary. For grades three through five the school promises a fun filled night and the opportunity for parents to get the latest information on upcoming state tests. It is April 11th from 4:30 to 6:00 pm beginning in the school gym.
The Northwestern State University Jazz Orchestra will perform on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. The special guest for the concert is drummer/percussionist Victor Rendon, a highly respected educator, author, and veteran of the New York City Latin music scene. The Jazz Orchestra will perform several Rendon compositions.
