Rebel Basketball Picks Up More Wins

The Riverdale Rebel basketball teams had a great week January 24-28, picking up six road wins. On Tuesday, January 25, the JV boys and varsity boys traveled to Central School in Grand Cane. The JV boys won their contest 40-33. Ashton Almond led in scoring with 14 points and led in steals with 5 and deflections with 6. Aston Hester had a greatnight, adding 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 deflections, 2 assists, and a blocked shot. Tanner Carlisle had 6 points, and Logan Gryder had 2 points while leading in rebounds with 6 boards. Colton Caskey, Colin Bates, Shea Nettles, and Dustin Davis had 2 points each. The varsity boys easily defeated Central

72-53. Ty Jones led in scoring with 19 points and in assists with 8. Denver Williams added 11 points and was leading rebounder with 9 boards. Caden Long had 10 points and 5 rebounds, while Ryder Huddleston had 8 points and 5 rebounds. Ben Almond scored 9 points and led the team in deflections with 5. Reagan Huddleston had 5 points and 5 rebounds, and Kyle Guillory had 4 points and 7 boards. Jace Wilhite and Thad Bates added 3 points each.

On Friday, January 28, the Lady Rebels and Rebels traveled to West Monroe where they picked up 4 wins over Northeast Baptist School. The JV girls had an easy time, coming away with a

41-7 win with all players seeing playing time. Jadyn King led in scoring with 15 points and also had 4 each of rebounds, steals, and deflections. Makayla Pickett joined her in double figures with 10 points and was leading rebounder with 8 boards. She also had 3 deflections, 3 steals, and led in blocked shots with 2. Haylee Smith had 7 points, 4 rebounds and deflections, and 3 steals.

Chloe Jordan added 3 points. Emma Giddings and Kynnedi Taylor each had 2 points. Hanna Catherine Huddleston added 2 points while leading her team in steals with 7 and assists with 6. The JV boys also got an easy 42-14 win. AstonHester led the team in scoring with 18 points. He also had 4 steals. Ashton Almond had 6 points and 4 steals. Tanner Carlisle also had 6 points and 5 rebounds, and Carlisle led the team in steals with 5 and assists with 3. Logan Gryder and Colton Caskey had 4 points each, with Gryder leading in rebounds with 6. Colin Bates added 2 points and had 5 boards, and Cannon Breedlove had 2 points.

In varsity action, the Lady Rebels easily defeated Northeast Baptist 39-15, with the starters not returning to the game after halftime. Sky McMullan had a huge game for the Lady Rebels with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 deflections. Mary Claire Jones had 8 points and 4 steals. Jessie Kate Cobb had 6 points, 4 assists, and led the team in rebounding with 9 boards. Jadyn King had 5 points, and Madison Chamberlin had 3 points. Kenley Loftin added 2 points, a blocked shot, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 5 deflections. The Rebels took a 72-32 win over Northeast, and the starters never returned to the game after halftime. Mason Murray had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and led the team in steals with 5. Kyle Guillory and Thad Bates also were in double figures with 10 points each.
