The Riverdale JV girls’ and boys’ basketball teams picked up 4 wins last week against Tallulah Academy and Northeast Baptist School. In the first game at Tallulah, the JV girls had a hard- fought game and came out on top by a score of 19-15. Jadyn King led the team in scoring with 6 points, while adding 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 deflections. Makayla Pickett had 4 points, 7 rebounds, and a team-high 10 deflections. Haylee Smith had 3 points, 7 deflections, and was a force on the boards with a team-high 13 rebounds. Point guard Hanna Catherine Huddleston was had a solid night with 2 points, 4 rebounds, 4 deflections 1 block, and led the team in steals with 6 and assists with 3. Chloe Jordan and Charity Williamson rounded out the scoring with 2 points each. In boys’ action, the Rebels defeated the Trojans 32-21. Aston Hester led the team in scoring with 10 points and also had 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Ashton Almond had 9 points, 5 deflections, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Logan Gryder had 6 points and an impressive 13 rebounds. Tanner Carlisle was solid across the board with 4 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 deflections, and 2 assists. Colton Caskey had 5 deflections, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds.
In their home games against Northeast Baptist, both teams also picked up wins. The JV girls defeated NEBS 45-12, with all players seeing playing time. Makayla Pickett led the team in scoring and rebounding with 10 points and 5 boards. Charity Williamson had 8 point and led the team in deflections with 6. Haylee Smith had 6 points and 5 boards, while Jadyn King and Gracie Stephens had 6 points each. Hanna Catherine Huddleston had another solid night with 3 points, while leading the team in steals and assists with 5 of each. The JV boys defeated NEBS 28-17. Logan Gryder led the team with 10 points and also had 4 rebounds. Ashton Almond added 8 points and 3 deflections. Aston Hester added 5 points, while Tanner Carlisle added 2 points and led the team in rebounding with 5. Cannon Breedlove led the team in deflections with 4.
This week the JV teams will be in action against Central, Briarfield, and Friday night at home against Union Christian Academy. Home games Friday will begin with the JV girls at 4:00 p.m. followed by three more games. Come out and support your Rebels!
