The Claiborne Academy Rebels traveled to East Point on Monday, December 6, and Riverdale came away winning 3 of the 4 games of the evening. In the first game, Riverdale JV Girls defeated Claiborne by a score of 29-21. 8th grader Makayla Pickett had a dominating performance, scoring 12 points and pulling down 16 rebounds. Haylee Smith added 8 points and 6 rebounds, while guard Hanna Catherine Huddleston was balanced across the board with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Jadyn King added 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 deflections. The Riverdale JV boys came up short against Claiborne, with the final score being 45-23. Aston Hester had 8 points and 3 rebounds, while Ashton Almond added 6 points and also had 3 rebounds.
The Riverdale Lady Rebels defeated Claiborne for the second time this season by a final score of 39-23. Kenley Loftin led the team in scoring with 14 points, and she also pulled down 7 rebounds. Rylee Kate Woodard had 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals. Sky McMullan led the team in rebounds with 8, and she also scored 5 points. 8th grade point guard Mary Claire Jones played her role well with 6 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals.
The Riverdale Rebels easily defeated Claiborne by a final score of 58-33. Senior Caden Long had a big night with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 deflections. Ty Jones also was a huge asset with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Sophomore Ryder Huddleston subbed in and had an outstanding game, scoring 10 points and pulling down 5 rebounds. Reagan Huddleston was solid across the board for the Rebels, hitting a 3-pointer along with getting 7 rebounds and 2 steals.
The varsity Rebels and Lady Rebels were in action over the weekend in the Prairie View double header. We will have that recap later in the week, as well as a recap of the December 13 games against Providence Classical Academy.
