The Red River Fire Board has hired a new Fire Chief. He is expected to begin work this week. The board acted Monday morning at their monthly meeting to hire John Woodfin to be the new chief.
Woodfin is expected to be on the job today. First order of business is to complete the background check and drug test. Neal said he would begin the background check Monday and the results should be back by today. The drug test is only expected to take a few minutes.
Board member Bob Hayes headed the committee that reviewed the applications Monday morning that John Woodfin be hired. Hayes said Woodfin is currently working with DeSoto Parish EMS. He is retired from the Shreveport area. Hayes said Woodfin would be working a 32 hour week for an annual salary of $42,000. With retirement fund contributions, Hayes told the board the final amount would run about $56,000.
Woodfin will replace acting chief Jeremy Neal who has held the position for the past few months. Neal said, “I’ll help Woodfin with the transition process. Then I will return to my regular duties with the fire department.”
