Golf Player of the Year

There is a Junior Golfer tearing up the courses this fall.  He has strong family ties to several Red River Residents.

The Louisiana Junior Golf Tour Championship Tournament, held in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Oct. 2-3 was won by 12 year-old Slayte Guidry, son of Caleb and Christy Guidry and grandson of Debbie Guidry.   Guidry started the Sunday round five strokes back, but a hot putter helped secure the victory.

After this win, he was also crowned the LJGT player of the year.  He is now Louisiana’s # 1 ranked 11-13 year old golfer.  Earlier in the season, Slayte had previously been named the player of the year on the Front Nine tour.
