The Students of the Year were honored at the monthly meeting of the Red River Parish School Board this week. Each received a plaque to memorialize their selection.
Superintendent Alison Hughes presented each and read their nomination write-up. The Red River High Student of the Year is Elizabeth Ann Hughes, a senior who will graduate on June 25th. Hughes hugged her daughter and read, “She is a twelfth-grade high school student passionate about helping others. Her academic achievements remarkable. Elizabeth has maintained an exceptional grade point average and her test scores are outstanding.”
Hughes called up eighth-grade student Rafe Rebel Suggs, the Student of the Year at Red River Junior High. Hughes said, “His academic achievement is outstanding. Rafe has kept up excellent grades since first grade and his test results are extraordinary.” Hughes pointed out the various clubs and activities Suggs participates in. She concluded, “Red River Junior High is well represented by Rafe Rebel Suggs as the 2020-2021 student of the year.”
The third student honored was Mary Alayna Morse from the fifth grade at Red River Elementary. Hughes praised Morse’s academic achievement, and she noted the long list of activities she participates in. Hughes said, “Mary says the school is significant to her life. Her teachers have inspire3d her not only by teaching her new things but also she wants to become a teacher.”
