Sheriff’s Update

Late Wednesday the Sheriff’s Office issued this update:

February 17, 2021

There have been reports of various structures in our parish collapsing under the weight of snow/ice causing damage to vehicles, farm equipment, etc. If you have a safe alternative, you may want to consider relocating items from under a questionable structure to avoid potential damage.

Trees and limbs across Red River Parish are also snapping in two causing damage, downing power lines and obstructing roadways. Please avoid all downed trees and power lines and call 932-4221 to report these and other hazardous conditions to authorities.

At this time, slushy/icy road conditions continue to be treacherous. The addition of debris from fallen trees and limbs makes it even more important that you avoid all travel unless it is absolutely essential or an emergency!

Again, your safety is a priority to Sheriff Edwards and the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office! Please, if at all possible, stay home and stay safe!
