Income Tax assistance is available from the Red River Council on Aging. Executive Director Liz Cannon said they have been approved site for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and Tax-Aide, two IRS sponsored programs that provide free tax preparation for those who earn less than $66,000.
Cannon told The Journal their help is open to the public by appointment only. That is due to COVID-19 restrictions. Call 318-932-5721 to schedule the appointment on Tuesday or Thursday between 1:00 and 2:30 pm.
There is no age requirement to get the tax help. VITA offers free tax preparation regardless of age.
