Private graveside services were held for Shelbie Jean Gray Lester, 82, of Castor, LA Monday, February 8, 2021 at Bethel Cemetery with Bro. Richard Kaufman officiating.  Services under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta, LA.

Mrs. Lester was born July 13, 1938 in Coushatta, LA and entered into rest January 30, 2021.  She was a retired home health nurse for Schumpert Medical Center.  Jean was a long time resident of the Martin community before moving to Castor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle Gray and O’Neal Rigdon Gray; brother, Claude Dean Gray; and infant daughter Teresa Gail Arender.

Mrs. Lester is survived by her children, Mike Arender and wife, Donna of Minden, LA, Gary Arender of Indiana and Laura Nunn of Louisiana; sisters, Peggy Vail of Coushatta, LA and Linda Scott and husband, Wayne of Haughton, LA; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-granddaughter due at the end of February.
