There will be two elections in Red River Parish this spring. Only one candidate qualified to fill the third open seat.
Police Jury District 3 will have John Lindsey and Shane Young vying for the seat. Young was appointed juror by the Police Jury recently. They are running to fill the unexpired term of Shawn Beard who resigned from the jury.
The other race is for Alderman of the Village of Edgefield. There David Layfield and Chandra Wilson will face off.
There will be no election for the vacant seat on the board of Aldermen for the Village of Martin. Clayton Williams was the only candidate who qualified for the vacant seat.
Also on the Red River ballot will be six candidates running for a seat on the BESE board. None of the qualifiers are from Red River parish.
The qualification period closed at 4:30 on Friday. The election will be March 20th.
