The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries on Wednesday stocked Grand Bayou with 4500 Channel Cat fingerlings. Fisheries Technician Scott Delaney opened the valve on three tanks on the truck and sent the catfish into the lake.
Delaney said, “The catfish were less than a year old. They were born at Booker Fowler Fish Hatchery, the main state owned hatchery located near Forest Hill south of Alexandria.
It will take the catfish some time to grow large enough to catch and fry. However area anglers have something to look forward to in about a year.
