Rebel Basketball Has Perfect Week

On Tuesday, January 12 the Prairie View Spartans came to East Point, and the Riverdale Rebels won all 4 games. In the first game, the JV Riverdale Lady Rebels won with a score of 36-22.  Mary Claire Jones led all scorers with 10 points.  She also had an outstanding 6 steals and 7 assists. Madison Chamberlin and Makayla Pickett each had 7 points.  Jadyn King and Emily Cason had 4 points each and were tied for leading rebounder with 6 rebounds each.  Hanna Catherine Huddleston added 2 points and Georgia Carlisle and Charity Williamson added 1 point each.  In the second game, the JV Rebels won by a score of 40-13.  Ryder Huddleston was the leading scorer with 21 points.  He also had 9 rebounds and 5 steals.  Kyle Guillory had another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He also 4 steals. Ashton Almond added 3 points and had 4 steals.  Will Jones had 2 points, 4 steals, and 6 assists.  Logan Gryder added 2 points.

In varsity action, the Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Spartans 42-17.  Kenley Loftin had another double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.  She also had 4 steals.  Rylee Kate Woodard added 8 points, had 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists.  Mary Claire Jones had 8 points and pulled down 5 rebounds.  Ronda Black had 6 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Emma Clemons finished out the scoring with 4 points.  Pacey Lindsey pulled down 7 rebounds in the game. The varsity boys’ game was also a blowout, with Riverdale beating the Spartans 71-47.  Parker Almond and Ty Jones each had 24 points for the night.  Parker had 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists, while Ty had 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 6 assists.  Denver Williams was also in double figures with 10 points. He pulled down 5 rebounds and had 2 steals.  Caden Long and Reagan Huddleston each had 5 points. Caden had 4 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.  Reagan had 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Paul Messenger had 3 points and 5 rebounds.

On Friday, January 15, the Central Pioneers travelled to Riverdale. There were only 2 games-JV and Varsity Boys.  The JV boys came away with another win, beating the JV Pioneers by a score of 45-29.  Ryder Huddleston and Kyle Guillory each scored 12 points in the win.  Aston Hester added 5 points.  Will Jones, Tanner Carlisle, Ashton Almond, and Colton Caskey all added 4 points for the Rebels.  Logan Gryder added 2 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, and Shea Nettles scored 2 points. The varsity boys got another big win with a score of 63-39.  Once again Parker Almond and Ty Jones were tied for high scorer with 17 points each.  Parker had 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals, while Ty had 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal. Caden Long had a good night with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.  Garrett Wilhite added 6 points and 5 rebounds.  Paul Messenger scored 5 points, while Reagan Huddleston and Denver Williams added 2 points each.

This week the Rebels are on the road all week.  On Tuesday, January 19, they traveled to Tensas Academy and came away with victories.  On Friday, January 22, they travel to Franklin Academy.  Tune in to journal sports around 6:00 p.m. for varsity game coverage.  Go Rebels!
